Responding to Essay Questions
Grades are important when applying for the PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship; however, it takes a lot more than a GPA to tell your story.
The questions are an opportunity for you to give us a snapshot of who you are – your voice, your experiences, your goals. Your audience is the scholarship selection committee, and they would like to understand who you are and why you would like to be selected for the scholarship.
Telling your story to the scholarship committee is your opportunity to show how thoughtful, creative and committed you are to obtain a scholarship. Make it personal. If you have had personal experiences or challenges that have affected your personal growth and development, include them in your response.
Have you made a positive difference in the lives of others, whether in your family, community or school? The committee would like to know about your accomplishments in your activities. Please provide sufficient background information so that the committee will understand what you have accomplished.
The scholarship committee realizes that you may be providing very personal information and the information you provide will be kept confidential.
