ANTI-bullying
PFLAG New Orleans has been on the forefront of anti-bullying efforts in Louisiana for many years, lobbying the legislature in Baton Rouge and the Orleans Parish School Board to pass anti-bullying legislation, participating in the Safe Schools for All Program, and working with area schools and educators to raise awareness of the dangers of bullying.
Bullying takes a horrific toll on ALL of our children: LGBT, those perceived to be LGBT, straight, and otherwise thought to be different.
There ARE things you can do; use these resources to Educate, Advocate, and Support our students, parents, and schools to fight bullying.
Cultivating Respect: Safe Schools for All
A PFLAG initiative that seeks to provide support, education, and advocacy to students, parents, families, friends, and educators to help them create a learning environment that is conducive to the educational success of all students
StopBullying.gov

It Gets Better
The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.
Make It Better
GSA Network launched the Make It Better Project on October 1st, 2010 to give youth and adults the concrete tools they need to make schools safer for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students right now. Through our YouTube channel, social media, and the campaigns, initiatives, and resources available on this website, the Make It Better Project aims to educate, motivate, and unite students and adults to effectively take action to stop bullying and harassment in schools based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. Our goal is to create safe, welcoming school environments that actively support LGBT youth and prevent suicide.
Stand Up!
Stand Up! LGBT Awareness Week is aimed at creating positive understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people and their issues. During Stand Up! Week youth workers and teachers offer all young people who participate in their center/school the opportunity to participate in fun and educational activities. These will increase awareness, build supportive links among young people and reduce the incidence of bullying and name-calling.
Welcoming Schools
Welcoming Schools is a project of the Human Rights Campaign initiated by a group of parents and educators to meet the needs of students whose family structures are not well represented or included in school environments, Welcoming Schools is also a response to educators who have asked for tools to address bias-based name-calling and bullying. Additionally, it offers a wide range of resources for school administrators and educators to support students who don’t conform to gender norms. For a look at the people engaged with developing welcoming and safe schools for all children, see:
